SmartHire Is Coming... To A Campus Near You!
SmartHire has one goal: To help students set themselves up for career success from day one after graduation. Chad Carden, one of the founding partners of SmartHire, has worked with thousands of students across the county and is tired of hearing the same things from college students over and over: “I just don’t know what I am going to do when I graduate”. Too many students graduate today, without a clearly defined career path, and the opportunity cost is tremendous. Not only money is wasted, but also valuable time and experience working in the career meant for you. This is why we are bringing our career match tool to your campus.
SmartHire, the founders of www.findyourcareermatch.com helps students truly understand what career choice is right for them. How you may ask?
By partnering up with Profiles International, a top assessment company, they have built a database of over 1000 career patterns and the characteristics that make people successful in each of them. With consideration of over 25 years of data, we have calculated career patterns of what top performers in each career are made up of. We have broken it down into three categories: cognitive skills, behaviors traits, and occupational interests. Students take the career match tool, essentially the best assessment on the market today, to get an idea of what their strengths and areas of opportunity are, and how to build and grow in each area. The student then chooses four to five different careers that they are interested in, and we run them up against those career patterns giving them a career match percentage and the explanation behind each career match percentage. It may sound complicated but is really a very simple yet highly effective process.
Why are we doing this?
Consider these statistics:
- 70 % of high school students fail to graduate “college ready”. Manhattan Institute for Policy Research
- 50 % of college students report feeling so depressed at some point in the last semester that they had trouble functioning. Suicide remains the second leading cause of death of college students. American Psychiatric Association
- 45 % of students who attend college drop out or fail out. U.S. Department of Education
- 37 % of students receive a BA do so in four years. The rest take six years, costing them on average $30,000 to $60,000 more. The College Board
- 7 % of students feel they have attended a program that did a “good job” teaching them to succeed in college. 2006 College-Bound Reality Report
- 500,000 collegians fall short of acquiring their degree every year. The Education Trust
Most college students leave school without graduating or a strong focus because they have no sense of direction with their major or career track.
Our #1 goal is to help students. We believe that campuses across the county have many great resources inside their career services, but are much too reaction oriented. We are taking a much more proactive and aggressive approach by hiring college students on your campus and becoming mentors for students. If we can give students some career direction early on, everyone benefits. The career match tool is a small part of a much bigger “Professional Life Society” which students can become members of. This membership allows them to have access to a greater understanding of the professional world after college.
We have a mission to positively impact over 100,000 students by 2010 in helping them find their true career path. With graduates struggling to find the right career track after college, this might be the best investment they or their parents can make.
We know you have a vested interest in helping every student on campus and we want to partner with you to compliment all of your efforts. For more information about the career match tool visit or to contact us please email info@smarthire-ks.com.
We look forward to working together to help your students set themselves up for success!
Sincerely,
The SmartHire Team
